About IIST Year-Round Internship/Project

The Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST) offers a year-round internship programme in addition to its Summer Internship Programme, which is conducted exclusively during the months of June and July each year. While the summer internship is limited to this specific period, the year-round internship programme provides greater flexibility, allowing undergraduate and postgraduate students to plan and undertake their internship or academic project work at any time during the year. The commencement and duration of the internship are subject to the availability and consent of a faculty supervisor at IIST.

This year-round internship programme is primarily intended to support students who wish to engage in long-term academic projects and gain in-depth research exposure under the guidance of experienced and expert faculty members at IIST. It is particularly beneficial for students whose academic requirements extend beyond short-term training, such as semester projects, thesis work, or extended research collaborations. Furthermore, this programme facilitates the continuation of academic interaction and collaborative visits with IIST faculty even after the completion of the student’s academic degree, thereby fostering sustained research collaboration.

Students who wish to apply for the year-round internship programme are advised to carefully read and strictly adhere to the complete set of guidelines provided below. Applications that do not comply with the prescribed guidelines may not be considered.

Application Procedure
  • IIST offers year-round internships/projects to students, in addition to summer internships for a period ranging from 3 months to 12 months.

  • The application requires a detailed work plan to be carried out at IIST.
  • The Faculty supervisor will endorse the applicant’s project plan and forward it to the internship committee for approval.
